Shiga Kogen Prince Hotel East is the most modern building of the three Shiga Kogen Prince Hotels with all of the 100 rooms boasting stunning slopeside views. This is also the smallest wing of the three, so this area has a calmer, more intimate feel than the larger South and West wings. (Technically they aren't wings since they are separate buildings.)
The Prince Hotel East is still in the process of being fully refurbished so not all parts of the wing are completely up-to-date, but the rooms on the Comfort floor especially (floor 5) are clean, comfortable and welcoming. The Junior Suite rooms are especially ideal for small families. All rooms in the East wing are non-smoking, and guests have easy access to the ski lockers and to gondola #1 from the comfort of the hotel. Another bonus of the East wing is that all rooms now have WiFi access, so you don't have to worry about heading down to the lobby to get online.
The East Wing also has a lovely dining area in which to enjoy breakfast and dinner, and a great little bar area with wonderful views of the slopes. Breakfast consists of a huge range of hot and cold buffet items with a combination of Japanese and western food. For lunch, guests can choose from a Japanese and Western a-la-carte menu, and dinner offers a choice of Japanese, (hot pot set menus such as shabu-shabu), Chinese or French-Italian cuisine.
All the staff here are friendly and helpful and are on hand to help you throughout your stay. There is a small coffee shop on site as well as convenience store, an equipment rental store and a coin laundry facility is available.
The only downside of the East wing is that it is the furthest from Ichinose Village - it's too far to walk - however the regular ski shuttle service makes travel between the hotel and the village quick and convenient.
