SCOUT REVIEW

Cowboy Heaven Cabins in Big Sky are the epitome of Montana mountain living. Perched high above the valley in Moonlight Basin, these rustic-chic log cabins offer an intimate and truly ski-in/ski-out experience that few properties can match. Step out your front door, click into your skis, and glide straight down to the Iron Horse or Pony Express lifts for easy access to Big Sky’s massive 5,800 acres of terrain.

Each cabin has its own personality, featuring cozy timber interiors, crackling wood-burning fireplaces, and private outdoor hot tubs with panoramic views of Lone Peak or the Spanish Peaks. They’re designed for relaxation and connection—with nature, your travel companions, and the mountain itself.

While Cowboy Heaven Cabins don’t offer the full-service amenities of a large resort, that’s part of their charm. Guests come here for the serenity, self-sufficiency, and sense of retreat. Most units include full kitchens and laundry facilities, and the Moonlight Basin Lodge is just a short drive or ski away for dining, après-ski, or a spa visit.

If you crave a blend of luxury and wilderness, Cowboy Heaven Cabins deliver. Whether you’re soaking in the hot tub under a canopy of stars or waking to fresh powder on your doorstep, it’s the quintessential Big Sky experience—private, peaceful, and perfectly positioned for adventure.

WHO SHOULD STAY HERE

Ideal for couples or families seeking a private mountain getaway with direct ski access. Best for travelers who prefer independence and comfort over hotel-style services.

Located in the Moonlight Basin area of Big Sky, Cowboy Heaven Cabins sit slopeside with direct ski-in/ski-out access to the Madison Base lifts. The cabins are about a 10–15 minute drive to Big Sky’s Mountain Village for restaurants, shops, and ski rentals. A car is highly recommended for exploring the wider resort and nearby attractions like Yellowstone National Park.

About Big Sky

Big Sky Montana used to be one of skiing’s best kept secrets. While the word about this fantastic resort has gotten out, the resort just continues to get better – especially since it acquired two neighboring resorts, including Moonlight Basin. Offering the largest skiable terrain in Montana (over 5800 acres!), Big Sky also boasts one of the biggest vertical drops in North America - a staggering 4366 feet - meaning incredible steep slopes, chutes, and leg-burning runs, along with plenty of intermediate and beginner terrain.
