Built in 1991 but recently renovated, Risonare Tomamu is located atop a hill and at the very end of the Tomamu ski resort area.
Risonare Tomamu has 200 suite rooms that are huge by Japanese standards, with each measuring 100 square meters. There are also only four suite rooms on each floor (hence why the towers are so tall!). The suites are equipped with modern amenities and wi-fi internet access throughout. One of Risonare Tomamu’s key features is the in-room spa bath, sauna and western style bathrooms. Some of the twin rooms have ‘single’ beds that are so big, they’re almost double bed mattress size, which again, is not typical in Japanese hotels. All the suites have nice views of the slopes but those on higher floors have particularly breath-taking views of the area. The new design suites feature updated furnishings and some with a separate bunk room for 3 children.
Risonare has several upscale dining options. Craving for Italian? Not to worry, the rather fancy Otto Sette Italian restaurant serves authentic meals. The hotel has a few other restaurants including the a Japanese buffet dining featuring local Hokkaido ingredients, the Wagyu and seafood restaurant Sora a meat restaurant and other buffet restaurants.
The hotel has plenty of other great facilities too. It has a convenience store where you can buy basic provisions and souvenirs, hot spring baths, a karaoke room, a big storage ski area, coin-operated laundry facility, vending machine, a small library, and a lounge area where you can enjoy free coffee and tea. There is a shuttle bus to take you to the wave pool and ice village.
