Ski Lodge Engelberg is the ultimate ski lodge for those that want to ski hard and party harder. Its fantastic restaurant, hip rooms, cool vibe and friendly guests and staff make it one of Scout's favourite ski lodges in the world.
Founded by a pair of Sweedes that fell in love with Engelberg, Ski Lodge is frequented by hard core skiers from all over the globe, though the majority of the guests come from Sweden and other parts of Scandinavia. The lounge, apres bar and outdoor deck come alive each afternoon with apres drinks flowing and tunes pumping. The party kicks up a notch after dinner - don't be surpised to still see people in their ski gear late into the evening.
Brasserie Konrad is the Ski Lodge's restaurant and it serves up excellent food with Sweedish inspiration. The restaurant is well worth a visit and advance bookings highly reccomended. Each night during winter they serve a 3 course Skiers Dinner and also an a la carte menu. There is also a limited menu in the bar, including their delicious burgers.
The rooms are simple but certainly comfortable. Given you won't be in them much they are perfectly adequate and most importantly - the beds are comfortable. They pride themselves on having "multiple power outlets and 17 hooks per person" of which we are massive fans. At Scout are always so surprised how few ski hotel rooms have hooks, but Ski Lodge Engelberg has nailed it. As the building is old do expect there to be some noise from other rooms, or the bar. There are a selection of rooms available for everyone from solo travellers to groups of skiers looking to stay together. Each room features hip mountain styling, super comfortable beds, ensuites and all the facilities you would expect such as cable TV, free wifi and toiletries provided. And 17 hooks.
Ski Lodge Englberg doesn't have a lot of luxuries that come along with many European hotels. But in true Ski Lodge style they do have an outdoor wooden hot tub and sauna.
Ski Lodge Engelberg is right in the middle of Engelberg village, across the road from the train station. It is 400m from the ski lifts which is an easy, flat walk, though a shuttle bus does leave from just outside at the train station.
