Firefly is a unique hotel for a Switzerland ski resort snce it features all apartments, each with its own kitchen. So while it is a hotel, it is actually great for those who want a bit of flexibility and convenience to cook in for a few nights. It’s also perfect for larger groups of friends and families who like to kick back in their own private living space after a day on the slopes.
Firefly hotel is fairly new, being completed in December of 2008, and has suites or apartments that sleep anywhere from two to 12 people. The two person suite is 30 m2 and like the rest of the apartments features a small kitchen area. The suites that sleeps six and up feature fireplaces, balconies and living areas and some have Matterhorn views. The suites are all done in a modern style, each with themes that fall under one of the four elements: water, fire, air, and earth. The color palette of the suites follow the element themes, fire is red, water is blue, air is yellow, and earth is brown. The suites are done in a modern contemporary style, with some touches here and there that creates the feel of an alpine area. The largest of the suites is the Skylight Loft on the 6th floor, it is 250 m2, sleeps 10 to 12 people, and has a whirlpool, sauna and spectacular Matterhorn views.
There are some great facilities at Firefly, including a fabulous wellness area with an indoor pool, 3 saunas, a steam room and ice grotto. So if you're the type of person that likes to indulge in some luxurious wellness facilities, then this is a good choice. There is an excellent gym, probably one of the best in Zermatt, with a lot of different weights and equipment. There is a bar at the hotel, a cool, wine bar called Wine 55, which does serve up some excellent drinks and some of the best Prosecco champagne cocktails in Zermatt. There's a pool table and it's a funky, cool atmosphere to enjoy a couple drinks with your group and peruse the eclectic artworks on the wall.
