Hidden Ridge Resort is made up of a number of condos and townhouses that are scattered over several acres of countryside, just ten minutes’ drive away from downtown Banff. It’s not in the thick of the action, but then again that’s part of its charm.
Many of the condos face the exterior of the property and have either woodland views or views of the mountains. These condos feel secluded and peaceful – don’t be surprised to see deer walking serenely past your balcony. The townhouses in the central part of the property don’t feel as private, but some of these have the best mountain views.
The one-bedroom condos (without lofts) are all located on the ground floor. They have patios, but can feel a bit dark. Also we’ve heard that they can get a bit of noise from the condos above. (Scout stayed in a one bedroom loft apartment, which has more space thanks to the loft and higher ceilings in the living room). The two bedroom condos all have an extra loft, and some have an extra games room in the basement. They’re perfect for a large family or group of friends who need a lot of space. All units have a wood burning fireplace and the property supplies additional wood for you during your stay, which adds to the magic of a winter getaway.
As you can see from the photos, the furnishings are simple and décor feels a bit dated. Occasionally the property has some maintenance issues – which is to be expected with any property over a certain age. But if you need some space and want to be fairly self sufficient, then Hidden Ridge might be just what you’re looking for. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and are particularly good for a longer stay in Banff.
Hidden Ridge Resort does boast some great amenities for families on-site, including outdoor hot tub and pool, sauna, communal laundry, and even complimentary DVD rentals at the front desk.
The Hidden Ridge Resort is ideal for families with their own car and seeking self-contained condos and townhomes in Banff.
