Hotel Berghof is a traditional Swiss ski lodge in Zermatt run by the Lerjen-Perren family. The family and their excellent team of staff are both friendly and welcoming and are on hand from the moment you arrive at the train station to the moment you depart.
Hotel Berghof has a charming, very Swiss bed and breakfast atmosphere, boasting excellent views of the Matterhorn from both the terrace and the breakfast room itself. Guests are treated to a decent buffet selection of hot and cold plates ready to set them up for a day on the slopes.
The rooms at Hotel Berghof range from Economy rooms to large Junior Suites and even Duplex Apartments for those who want additional kitchen and living facilities. There are only 28 rooms in total so the hotel never feels crowded, but does feature on-site amenities for those wishing to interact with other guests. The hotel includes a lounge, restaurant, games room and spa so you can while away your evening in a way that suits you.
Considering the hotel has such a small, bed and breakfast feel, the spa is surprisingly well equipped, with two swimming pools as well as a steam room, sauna and fitness room.
Hotel Berghof is located just 50m from the Matterhorn Express lift (around 10-15 minutes walk from downtown). While you're not right in the heart of town, you are in one of the best locations for accessing the lifts. Hotel Berghof has a ski storage room on-site, or you can hire and store you ski gear from just below the lifts for additional convenience.
