Representing excellent value in the heart of Zermatt, Swiss Alpine Hotel Allalin is a great find for those who want a traditional style hotel, convenient to everything, and a room with the potential to have views of the Matterhorn, friendly service, and good facilities. The Hotel has undergone a recent refurbishment which has turned it from dated Swiss chalet style into a brighter, fresher, more modern hotel. Fortunately they have still retained the beautiful old wooden paneling which is a lovely reminder that you are in fact, in Switzerland. The downstairs lobby has a comfortable lounge, where you can sit back and enjoy a drink or two from the bar, and meet and mingle with other guests.
The rooms aren’t huge but they're certainly cozy, warm and inviting. They are decorated in a traditional style with wood paneling on the ceilings and have benefited from a recent remodeling giving them a fresh and modern feel. Half of the rooms on the south side, look to the Matterhorn, (which commands a premium price) while others look to the village of Zermatt or the Mountaineers Cemetry. A lot of the rooms have balconies. Downstairs, there's a restaurant that serves a fantastic buffet breakfast, which is included in the room rates.
The Swiss Alpine Hotel Allalin has an adequate wellness center, which includes a steam room, saunas, and private Jacuzzis and bathing rooms. The private Jacuzzis and bathtubs can be rented as part of the service, or if you're staying more than three nights, it is included for free. There are also massage facilities.
